Led Vs Plasma - Power Consumption

There's nothing quite like a modern, large television - especially after a long day of work. Just imagine plopping down on your couch, sitting back, taking a sip of your favorite beverage, and watching your favorite movie or television program. Sounds like a petite slice of heaven, huh? Now imagine that picture with the best television possible. While there are many things to think in the Led vs Plasma television debate, we're going to take a quick (but close) look at the power consumption of both types of Hdtv.

Plasma Hdtv and Power Consumption

Led Vs Lcd Vs Plasma

In general a plasma Hdtv is going to use more power than an Led Hdtv, but as you can see, they're not going to take that much more power. Here's a look at some favorite brands and what they might cost per month in power to control when set-up for power savings.

Dynamic Contrast
IPS

IPS Alpha LED LCD Technology

The IPS Alpha panel, which is known for its wide viewing angle and excellent light transmittance, is now further enhanced with a bright, energy-saving LED backlight. Images do not fade when viewed from an angle, and contrast is higher than in previous IPS Alpha models in spite of using less power. The IPS Alpha LED LCD TV offers superb color rendering and also contributes to the display's slim design.

LED Backlight

This system places LED backlights on the top and bottom of the panel, and sends the light toward the center of the screen. Using light guides and diffusers, it distributes the light over the entire panel to provide backlighting. There is no need to cover the entire rear surface with LEDs, so the panel module is thinner and a great deal of energy is saved.

Dynamic Contrast

By combining the highly light-transmissive IPS Alpha Panel and high-brightness LED backlight, Panasonic has attained both high contrast and low power consumption. Also, by detecting the contrasting parts of the scene, the backlight is adjusted to maintain a brightness that is optimal for each area. Deep blacks are reproduced with no fading. The contrast between the brilliance of diamond-like stars and the deep black of the night sky produces a sharp, crisp image.

Wide Viewing Angle

With VIERA's wide 178° viewing angle, you see clear, vibrant images from every seat in the room. The backlight features a wide transmission aperture that enhances contrast between light and dark and improves response to provide smoother motion images.
